About
Dear Mel.
Here is your new blog. I thought I would get the ball rolling by introducing you to your audience…
Mel.M is my older sister, a smidge older than the spice girls. She has two girls of her own, (T & K) one of whom is dyslexic, (A) husband and a dog (N). She volunteers at her daughter’s school, is a school governor, runs a Brownie pack, has an allotment and keeps quails.
Mel is a qualified teacher and loved teaching in Hackney (even the day when I came in to help) before accepting a full-time position as mother and moving to Yorkshire.
In 2007 she joined the family business, working part-time for TFH. Ever since I joined in 2000 I have been asked about the importance of research, but the truth is that Mel is our research department.
Mel volunteers at a special school in the class for children with severe Autism. Her experiences there help TFH offer and design relevant toys.
Mel completed a Peach ABA course in 2009 and volunteers as part of a team around a child (F) who is (currently) receiving council-funded ABA therapy (and making great progress).
I hope that Mel will enjoy writing the blog, I suppose that it’s the sort of thing that gets easier and easier once you get into it. I imagine that all of the characters from the introduction will get a mention.
TFH is very lucky to have Mel, as are the children at school: this blog is an opportunity to share Mel’s experience with a wider audience.
Peter.
